Service Description

Designated Hotline for Carer Support (Carer Hotline) operates 24-hour service. The Hotline will be answered by professional social workers and aims to reduce the stress and burden induced by daily caregiving, and enhance their caring capability continuously. It provides instant support by phone to the carers, crisis intervention and outreaching service to those facing emergency situation without support. The Hotline will make referrals to the mainstream welfare units so as that the carers would receive long term casework service.

Service Provision

  • Answer hotline round the clock by registered social workers
  • Introduce relevant social services and make referrals
  • Render immediate emotional support through counselling, crisis assessment and intervention
  • Provide travelling subsidy for carers with financial difficulties to receive respite services*
  • Assess and match appropriate respite/outreach services
    for elderly persons /persons with disabilities in urgent need of support
  • Provide WhatsApp Support Service for carers and care receivers with hearing or speech impairments

Termination of Services

Users may withdraw from the service anytime by informing hotline social worker

*Social Welfare Department will provide a travelling subsidy to carers who apply for respite care service for their family members, subject to a maximum of $300 at one time. Carers can apply the subsidy by calling Carer Hotline.
